franklin-mob-3ABOUT ME:

As a young child, I could not say the /l/ or /r/ sound correctly.  I remember being frustrated that people would misunderstand what I said and in turn would ignore me or hang up the phone on me. To ease my frustration, my parents took me to a speech pathologist, and it was something that changed my life’s path forever.

I enrolled at the University of Kansas to become a speech pathologist, and during my introductory class about communication disorders, got introduced to the ear and how it worked. I was hooked!

The ear is a complex sense organ that, when not working properly, can have a significant impact on someone’s quality of life by taking away the ease of communication. My philosophy is to learn about my patient’s interests and lifestyles to help me facilitate the best and most appropriate technology to suit their needs.

As a pediatric audiologist, I enjoy working with families to help answer questions, provide access to sounds to promote speech and language development, and be an active member of the hearing healthcare team to help achieve whatever goals the family sets for their hard of hearing child.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two dogs! Our dogs are our kids for now, but in a few months, we will welcome a real baby to our family! I love spending time in the mountains, skiing, snowboarding, traveling, politics, watching sports (Go Jayhawks!), reading and being with family and friends.
